If your not sure if you laser is working properly you can do a few tests to diagnose the fault with your laser.

You need a few discs to test the console and see where the problem is.

Audio CD

DVD Movie

Blu Ray Movie

PS3 Blu Ray Game

So we are testing three different  media types with your laser CD, DVD & Blu Ray, test your console with each of the discs and compare your results below to confirm where the fault could be.

Audio CD – Not reading

DVD Movie – Ok

Blu Ray Movie – Ok

PS3 Blu Ray Game – Ok

If you have this result is could be because the laser lens is dirty, the disc is damaged or dirty or a software problem with your PS3.

It’s most likely that your laser is fine and the fault lies with your PS3 system software.

dismantle your console and take your laser out.

What if none of the disks work… I was playing Call Of Duty and at the end of the game it froze. I tried all disks and none would work! I was thinking of buying a new laser, however, now I’m not sure if this will fix the problem?
